Blog
Growing up as an early 2000’s baby means that I grew up with technology. It was there when I was born, but it wasn’t like what it is today. I remember when the first iPhone came out and the iPod Touch. So when I say I grew up with technology, it really means that I evolved with it. Because technology was changing and still is, blogging wasn’t as much of a thing. You had YouTubers, but rarely saw parents posting videos of their kids, and if so, it was for their friends and families. Or maybe America’s Funniest Home Videos, other than that, you wouldn’t see what you see now back then.
How would you feel if your parents blogged your every move or funny moments? Or sharing videos that you feel are embarrassing to you as a kid with your girlfriend or boyfriend? I go back and forth on this. I believe there is a line, and that line is decided by every parent. There are some videos that my parents even let me put out on YouTube, but never blogged me. They would post about my accomplishments and birthdays, but not the random funny videos. If it were me, I think I would feel sad about some videos being posted, but others being funny and post-worthy.
So is blogging your kids the new normal? Since these kids grow up around the technology that we have today, are they going to be used to it and feel like it is normal? I am interested to see the response of this in the future. A big argument is the safety of children. As I said above, I believe there is a line, and that line is up to every parent, but safety is something that needs to be addressed when posting children. It is important and the parents’ job to keep their child safe, so take that as you please. Without getting too far into that argument, we are here to answer the question.
Would you mind if your parents blogged you? My answer to this question is yes and no. There are somethings that I would be okay with sharing, but as an awkward teenager, I don’t know if my parents blogging me would strike my fancy. Now that I am older, I wouldn’t care so much. I am curious to hear your thoughts on this. How would you feel if your parents blogged about you and posted a lot about your life? Leave me a comment.
