Have you ever been scrolling through your social media platforms and come across a post about God or our Savior, Jesus Christ? As a Christian and a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, I have come across many posts about God and Jesus Christ. In fact, I follow many who I look up to who share his message. What exactly is the marvelous work? God and Jesus Christ’s work is to bring both you and me closer to Him, to understand Him, and to build a relationship with God and our Savior. But how can his message reach everyone? Social media has made this possible.

Social media has been used by his marvelous work in many ways. Like mentioned above, we can share his good news and his message to those all around the world without needing to be there in person. It is incredible that we live in a time to witness his work being done. I have also seen many share their experiences and testimonies of our Savior, Jesus Christ, and all he has done for us. We all have a wonderful opportunity to share our experiences as well as begin to learn. But how do we know what the truth is being put out there on social media? There are many fake and dishonest information that gets put out on the internet daily. Being able to discern what is right and truthful is a great skill not only when it comes to His gospel, but in everyday situations. The first thing that helps me is paying attention to how it makes me feel. If I feel off about it, I don’t listen to it and move past it. Doing further research is another thing that can help us discern what is truthful. Researching a topic and going to trusted sources is very important. Now I am guilty of this, believing the first thing you see isn’t great because you never know where that person got their information from, unless you genuinely know that they are a good source. This is super important. Taking it to God is also very important. Say a prayer and seek guidance as you read and have questions. He knows all truth, so why wouldn’t we take it up with him?

With that being said, what role do you want to play in using social media for the service of God? Some ways we can do this are by being kind on the internet. There is so much negativity out there and mean comments. Why not be the positive one? We can ask ourselves, “What would Jesus do?” Through that question, we can analyze our actions and do our best not to judge others and be kind. Another role we can play is by sharing his good word and experiences. By doing this, we can help others come closer to their Savior. There have been many instances where I have heard others share their journeys and experiences with our Savior that have helped me get through some hard times.
